Area Activist Groups Sponsor an Evening of Folk, Jazz and Bluegrass Music

New Hope, PA - Three area activist groups will hold a 'Rise & Resist' Benefit Concert at 7:00 p.m. on July 1 at the Event Center by Cornerstone (Eagle Fire Company) at 46 N. Sugan Road in New Hope, PA.

Concert Organizer Janice MacKenzie of Upper BuxMont Rising said, “The goals of the concert are to raise awareness and celebrate the growing, community-based resistance movement, as exemplified by the three groups, which emerged as as local response to the current administration’s policies. The proceeds from the benefit will help support organizations involved in immigration rights, women’s health, and voter education/mobilization efforts.”

The concert will feature inspiring local folk, jazz, and bluegrass musicians, including:

Guitarists Rolly Brown, a national fingerpicking champion, and Mark Cosgrove, a national flatpicking champion and current member of the David Bromberg Band; Lambertville jazz singer and pianist Carol Heffler;  New Hope-area singer and songwriter Deva Troy; a Philadelphia-based jazz band, The Ken Ulansey Ensemble, featuring jazz diva Phyllis Chapell; and Pineville singer/songwriter LisaBeth Weber.

Event sponsors comprise  Rise Up DoylestownIndivisible Lambertville/New Hope (ILNH), and  Upper BuxMont Rising, which are dedicated to addressing critical issues facing the U.S. today, ranging from the environment; healthcare; civil rights,  justice and ethics in government;  income and gender equality; and other socio-political issues.

Tickets are $20 ($25 at the door) and are available by clicking here, at  Siren Records in Doylestown PA, or at the door.

The Event Center at Cornerstone is located in the Eagle Fire Company at 46 N. Sugan Rd. in New Hope PA. This is an indoor venue with concert seating for 300. There may be some Standing Room Only ticketing available when all seats are sold.
