“'...while the story magic pours over me.' is the last line of my favorite poem in Did You See What I Saw? Poems about School. Both as a child and as an adult, story was and is magic for me. I was a teacher, a reading specialist, and a college instructor before following a childhood dream. I wanted to be a children’s book author. What I enjoyed most about my career as an educator was sharing wonderful books with children and teachers. Now I do author visits at schools, conferences, and libraries and share my own poetry books, early chapter books, biographies, and picture books for both young and older children.

I started writing about what I know. Did You See What I Saw? Poems about School was my first published book . Later on, My Teacher for President was published. That book came right out of my classroom experiences."
