Urgent care centers provide walk-in access to adults and children for acute illness and injury care, for conditions not severe enough for the emergency room, yet outside the capability or office hours of a primary care provider. Urgent care centers usually have physicians or physician assistants on staff, as well as nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and radiology technicians.
